About our Journey

The Georgia Law Enforcement Organization is a mostly volunteer statewide nonprofit corporation with 501(c)3 status. Our membership is made up of our board of directors, support staff, online forum’s members, committee members, and volunteers from throughout the United States.

Our programs are 100% funded through grants, membership fees, special fundraisers, and donations from our supporters and partners. The majority of our funding goes directly back into programs that enrich and improve the lives of the law enforcement families we support.

Board of Directors

GREG JAMES

Executive Director / Founder

Retired from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in 2016 where, after working a number of years in the jail and patrol, he spent his last 6 years on the criminal interdiction unit and SWAT Team. He then served as a private military contractor for the United States Department of Defense protecting high valued assets and personnel in the Middle East for several years. Currently, he works for an Aerospace & Defense company providing much needed support and resources to the US Military around the world. He graduated from the University of North Georgia for Nonprofit Business Management.

JOSH WATSON

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Before retiring as a Sergeant from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in 2016, he spent 13 years in various capacities within the organization to include Patrol, Jail, K9, Court Services, Marine Patrol, Community Relations, Honor Guard and PIO.
After retiring from Law Enforcement, he has continued to work in local government in a civilian capacity. He maintains his retired status through Georgia POST and still has close ties to the law enforcement community.

 

LOGAN BUTLER

EXECUTIVE LEGAL COUNSEL

Logan Butler dedicates his practice to criminal defense, employment law and a highly specialized local government practice providing legal services to Sheriff’s Offices and other Law Enforcement Agencies.
Mr. Butler has previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit (Barrow, Jackson and Banks Counties) and in the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit (Forsyth County). He has also worked for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia and served as an Assistant Solicitor for the municipal Court of the City of Cumming.

ANGELA MOORE

Director

Angela is an 22 year law enforcement veteran who has served in multiple units, leadership positions, and as a member of the Crisis Negotiations Team, where she held that role for 10 years, with Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
She retired as a Sergeant in 2016 and is currently employed with another agency in North Georgia as a Liuetenant in the Investigations Division. Her husband has also spent his career in law enforcement.

MICHAEL KARNBACH

Director

Michael is the Deputy Director of the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency. He is a both a certified peace officer and registered pharmacist. He holds a doctorate degree from Mercer University and various law enforcement certifications through the State of Georgia. Michael has been involved in the healthcare community for more than 20 years, with 15 of those years spent specifically in criminal health care investigations and enforcement.
